A tropical storm is expected to hit Guam by tomorrow afternoon with sustained winds of 35 mph and gusts up to 60 mph. We closed the storm shutters and FM had to make sure our lawn gnome was safely put in the house. Sure glad we upgraded our typhoon supplies to include Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine!
UPDATE (as of 9am on Sunday): The storm has been named “Tropical Storm Saomai”. Not a a good sign because that means it’s big and bad enough to have a name. Brave Ulysses has great updates on the storm over at his blog including video – check it out.
FM summed it up well last night when he went out for one last thing (more beer), he said “You know it’s going to be a bad storm when you see your Baptist neighbors buying a bottle of rum.”
The Cheb Chicken, well it was a rooster, but anyway!
I learned my lesson about buying items from a seedy Czech flea market.
Remember, I set him on my desk and the next day I was surfing the internet, and first one very fast crawling bug runs across the keyboard, then I see something run down the wall, then I move the “chicken” and out spead numerous “bugs”. The cats were not even getting near those gross things, and we had a near infestation on our hands. I hate bugs! Well I still have the rooster in the garden but he got the scrubbing of his life as did the office and all my other products. Yick, thanks Heidi, I had blocked that trauma out of my mind.

Glad you stocked up . . . I got a huge laugh at the gnome . . . so brought back memories of Czech Republic . . . did you ever hear Marilyn’s story about the chicken she bought in Cheb? Sean loved those gnome things too but he also wanted the 3 foot alien creature for his X-Files inspired/Irish Pub guitar studio. Love the header on the blog . . . FG is just getting too big! Since Colin LOVED the beach and it is a rumor the in-laws are moving to your side of the sea we might just drop in to Guam . . . you know they change their minds often about the moves but I bet he would LOVE the beach and FG could teach him about the sea life.
