It was a week ago today I had surgery to “take care” of my uterine fibroids. Once we got back from NYC, all my focus went into getting ready for my surgery ~ cleaning the house, paying all the bills, having “the talk” with FM just in case something happened, etc.
What was suppose to be a 1 hour surgery turned into more than 3 hours due to complications and there was significantly more blood loss than expected. Here we go again with those lovely iron pills 😉 Once they wheeled me into my room, FM gave me something from FG. She sent her FAVORITE stuffed animal and a hand-written get well card that brought tears to my eyes:
There’s nothing like family to get you through the rough spots, is there?!
I spent two full days in the hospital but thankfully was allowed to leave in the early evening on Friday. I was still in considerable pain, and hated to give up the good pain killers available only in the hospital, but the thought of another sleepless night was too much to contemplate. My roommate was OK but there was another woman on the ward screaming at the top of her lungs several times throughout the night. It was so nice to be home and in my own bed!
So for now, my days are spent working on getting healthy again and not a whole lot of anything else.
Norbert: thanks for your best wishes from Germany.
Alex: Thanks for your thoughts. Your last comment was appropriate because it was a difficult week ~ not only physically but mentally since my thoughts were all about those dreadful days in 2004. When I think back to those days, it’s still very surreal. My heart continues to ache for our friend, Heidi.
But on a brighter note: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Hope life continues to get better and better for the two of you.

Patti,
I hope you are feeling better soon and are not in too much pain! Enjoy your reading while under house arrest!

P.S. I obviously had no clue about your difficult week ahead when I left my last comment – sorry about that!

Thanks everyone for your well-wishes. I must be feeling better because I keep checking the travel sites for a good “New Year’s Eve” destination. One thing I can’t look at yet is my yoga magazine ~ hurts to even think of twisting into those positions. 🙂

Take care of yourself . . . do you have a bell so FG can be at your beck and call? Glad you are home . . . you didn’t sneak some of those pain killers home with you?

I wanted to see the note but it is still unavailable.
I’m sure you will be walking the dogs soon.

Wishing you good health and a speedy recovery. Too bad they reserve the good drugs for the hospital!! I wish I could have seen the note from FG, but it says that the photo is currently unavailable. What’s up with that? I will check back. I’m a sucker for that kind of stuff, especially from kids. Be well.

Patti, so glad that you are doing well. You and J shoud live closer together and you could have re-couperating party!
I picked up a little receipe to help J when he returns home:
1/2 C All-Bran
1/2 C Prune Juice
1/2 C Applesauce
Eat 2 T with each meal. This is supposed to help with the iron supplement side effects and side effects of the pain meds 🙂
I feel like I am becoming quite savy with the challenges of being the patient advocate ha!
