Saturday was the state cheer competition and, although FG’s cheer team did a great routine, they did not advance to the Regional Competition. It was bittersweet for me ~ I wasn’t looking forward to more cheer practice (it’s everynight for two hours) nor the trip to Trenton for the regionals but I would have been happy to go had they advanced. She’s already talking about being on the team next year…
The trip to Albany was an easy 3.5 hour drive which is good to know should we want to go to a concert or show. The trees through the countryside was glorious and actually made me want to stop and just enjoy the scenery. Fall is definitely the most beautiful time of the year here.
Speaking of fall, it’s been wonderful but I heard the weatherman say the “S” word today. Hopefully, the snow flurries will be in the higher elevations only. It certainly feels cold enough today for snow so I’m cozed up next to the fireplace and a mug of hot chocolate. I’m reading “Atlas Shrugged” so that’ll keep me occupied for awhile.
Next week, I’m hosting a costume party dinner for our unit “coffee” and the theme is “Come as what you wanted to be when you grew up” ~ what would you wear?
Alice: That’s scary that people don’t know what ACORN is doing. The fact that ACORN receives federal funds makes me furious.
Angie: I wanted to be either an Army Nurse a la M.A.S.H or a tennis pro. I think it’ll be easier to dress as the tennis pro 🙂

Congrats to FG on a great cheerleading season!
When I was a little girl really wanted to be a nurse but didn’t because I did not think I was smart enough. I didn’t want to make a mistake and kill someone!!! BUT I’m sure I’d have a hard time finding a costume that wasn’t a “naughty nurse”. Why is it that everyone thinks if you dress up for Halloween you should look like a hooker too! That just drives me nuts!
What are you going to be?

I thought it was really clever if I don’t say so myself. I have to say that I am shocked at how many people don’t know what I am talking about when I tell them I want to be an ACORN worker.

I’m loving the ACORN worker idea. Too funny!

I wanted to compete in the Olympics. We have one costume party to go to and right now it’s a toss up between an Olympic swimmer or an ACORN voter registration worker.

I wanted to be an astronaut or president. Now that I’m older, I would never want to be president – but going to outer space is still something I would love to do! What a neat idea!!
